When your throttle cable breaks, you WILL loose the ferrule from the twistgrip!
Whatever you carry will ensure that the particular part will never let you down, so I carry an inner tube.....
Rear light bulb may be worthwhile.

You might want to put some of that anti puncture stuff in your tyres, it's easier to pump them up than change a tube in this weather. And make sure your tyres are as new as possible, worn tyres puncture easier as well as having less grip!

Oh and a spare chain link! Make sure the breather is pointing to the chain so it gets some extra lube, road salt is a real chain killer.

Amazing what you can fix with a few tie-wraps, some stiffish wire, a few jubilees and a roll of tape. I also carry a couple of swarfega wipes.

Although I own a slightly more modern (reliable!!! Aye right!) I always carry a spare plug, a fuse or two, a couple of simple electrical connectors or left over wire, a bulb or two, and spare clutch-type cable and nipples. A puncture repair kit is handy too. Its not about 'hoe' to use something - instead it is how you could mis-use a bit of kit.
