Years ago I purchased a Ural outfit new, (£425) the chair on the wrong side, didn't even complete the first run without me and the bike turning turtle and me finishing in hospital with a bust pelvis, (the bike only cracked an indicator lens!)They are certainly strong, but you do need a sense of humour to own one. The spares kit was great and included enough tools (it was claimed) to do an engine strip, some repair paint and spare piston rings for both sides! Its Nearly Xmas and time to reminisce!

Roger, a friend of mine did exactly the same thing a couple of years ago with a brand new Ural, 10ks after picking it up it ended the wrong way up, he was ok but $10,000 damage to the bike, frame was bent, had to wait 10 months for the next shipment of Urals to arrive in the country. Once it was repaired he sold it, I don't think he even bothered to ride it before he sold it.

Hi Grunda,
I've been riding or should I say piloting a Dnepr 11 with sidecar for the past 4 years albeit fitted with a Diahatsu Charade 1000cc turbo diesel power plant. Sidecar is on right hand side (ok in Ireland as it is legal on either side). What a fun machine either single or with passenger. The trick with your left turn is to get the speed right before turning, shift your bodyweight right out over the car and turn without releasing the throttle (takes guts),power can be added for exiting the turn. If you let the throttle off the car will lift and perhaps overturn. For right hand turns beware of overconfidence, if turning fast and tight the rear wheel can leap skyward and the possibility of a foreward flip is real.It took me about 3 months to properly learn control.

hi Pilot thanks for the tips i have in mind fitting a D272 KUBOTA diesel lump we use them at work but while the boxer twin runs im in no hurry to spend ,i had my first victim (passenger ) mad Jez who wore his ww2 dispatch riders helmet and goggles leaning in and out of the chair round the twisties,ive fitted an 80mph smiths copy speedo and that works ok showing 55 at top end which is correct so we will see atb paul

STOP IT EVERYONE! i'm pining for another combo now..but haven't got the funds,without selling one of my bikes,or Triumph Herald.don't want to put a chair on my Sportster,and it appears Indian Enfield frames are made of cheese,so that's out.sigh...

haha! thanks Alan..funnily enough,my friend has a large German Shepherd dog,which would be fun to take around in a chair.
