Your bang on about the hi lift cam mod Norm , it was like ..O God I'm still tight and the seal is breaking through ! All I can do is pull the tank and rockers when I go full paranoid ..tales of spindle fail when the rockers block up give me the pump fail fears , time to pray .

Phil, pump spindle failure is not high on the cause of problems, mostly it is the end result of big end failing first. Only spindle I have actually been involved with that failed first was the recent failure in the Speed Dog Racing bike and the problem there is the high revs the motor is pulling all the time. My belief is that under normal use the Indian spindle is up to the job but obviously the Hitchcocks spindle is far superior. Keep an eye on the rockers and if flakey stuff starts to appear, big end is on the way out and there is nothing you can do about it
