Dear Sergeant or the story of rough riding motorcycling course (1944) colour/silent

An absolute gem for those who like old military and WWII despatch riding, set around Wentworth Hall, Yorkshire. I really, really enjoyed watching this!

The running start at 10:20 is great! (what is hanging off the right rear of the bike?)

Here’s some stills.

A group are shown how to ride while standing up on the pedals.  They then practice over rough terrain, and one rider ends up in a bush.

Hi guys--------- What a lovely place for a training course !... I'd sign-up for one right now !!------------- Wentworth Hall is very much alive and well these days but the railway station is long gone ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wentworth_railway_station )... Thanks SCALY, I managed to get several fleet Nos. from that !!..Also, from a link provided by you I'll be buying some Desert Sand paint soon ( http://www.militaryvehiclepaint.co.uk/p ... t_id=61540 )........... I wonder if the full film is available on a CD ??..You certainly look the part on your Bullet..I hope a Muslim suicide bomber doesn't think the same !!!!!!----------

Finally got the full version at 28 and a half minutes long, but with rather large YFA initials which are a little off-putting, still at least the film is a gem. Also known as ‘How to abuse Matchless 3G’s”

It was actually shot during 1940-41.

There are some more brilliant scenes from which I grabbed a few stills.

anybody near Wentworth, know where this is taken?

How to turn on a hill after stalling.

How to slide down a shale hill by locking the rear brake.

Washing your bike in a ford.
