Went out for a bimble on the Interceptor (1966 Mk1) this afternoon. I've been waiting for a dry sunny day and this was perfect. The countryside here in South Northamptonshire is still looking nicely autumnal and most of the traffic was elsewhere so perfect conditions except for the cold. Like most parallel twins the Inter vibes a bit at certain revs but smooths right out at an indicated 85 (allegedly!) but is capable of lanes pottering on a whiff of throttle. Great to blow the cobwebs away! What about your rides?

It's been a balmy 10/12 degrees here in North Devon so not even slightly chilly and wall to wall sunshine too.
I've had Lucy the Tiger 90 out today and the irritating, intermitent and unpredictable mis-fire soon started. I'd already changed points, plugs, condensors etc even changed the carb and nothing made any difference. As I was passing the bike shop I stopped off and bought (another) two new plugs (the ones in the bike looking sooty), changed them outside the shop and problem solved. An investment of sick squid on two new NGK's and immediately she's like a new bike. I did another 30 odd miles and she did n't miss a beat. Lesson here is to not trust even new parts - they can still be faulty or I suspect in this case, even snide parts.

I seem to be going through NGK plugs at an alarming rate.. I wouldn't mind, but I don't actually put that many miles in each month. Is it the plugs or the bike?

Rode my 350 over to my nearest enfield dealer to see the new conti in the flesh. Very impressed except the horrible stock exhaust, I would change that pretty quickly. Clear and bright here in Kent and as always the bullet ran like a dream. Took me a while to thaw out but well worth it.

Hi Mark, good to hear your Inter is doing what all remaining Inters should be doing, getting ridden, great machine aren't they. As for NGK spark plugs I had a horrible ride around Tas a couple of years ago and had to replace the spark plug every 150ks because it would just stop. What I believe to be the problem is if it is running just a fraction too rich at a certain throttle setting it wets the plug and with the fuel we are now using it wets and kills the plug. I found by dropping the needle one notch I seem to have cured the problem

Exile do check there genuine NGK spark plugs there's a lot of Chinese fakes about. I now use champion plugs which I've found work better in my bike. I stopped using NGK after having three plugs last less than 1000 miles each. Since then the champion one I brought as it was all the shop had suitable has been in there 3 years of daily use, I since foud out the pack of four NGK ones I was using were fakes.
