Having owned an EFI for just under two years and 8,000km, what you describe is a sure case for an experienced EFI dealer to sort. In very cold weather I needed the enrichment device, but as soon as it was running, it could be released. For the information of those who do not know the efi, the enrichment lever cannot be left in the on potion as it has a strong spring return. (Unless there is a fault with the cable or actuator.) Belching black smoke on full throttle, sounds like some sort of jet or injector problem and the processor is failing to regulate the mixture, but you do not mention any warning light from the management system. Get it to your dealer quick. Best regards.

Hi Nick,

I have been blowing spark plugs on my 2010 EFI since I bought it. Everything points to the bike running rich. The dealership has done everything to figure out why, even changed the entire injection system! I'm still having the problem 6000kms later (I'm in France) and no answer. The only clue points to a problem finding the right plug, which is apparently only available in India!

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had a similar problem.

Thanks all,

Ricky

Hi Ricky,

this is my 2nd plug in 20,000 miles... so not bad, my dealer did say that RE's had ( and still have it seems) a habbit of going through spark plugs... Note to self, keep a spare.

Cheers
