Hi Norm, it 's going to take quite a bit of time to work that out. Most stubs in the loom have now been replaced or remade. Switchgear replaced too, but well over 20 amps flowing through lighting circuit, so hot cables in the main loom must have melted through to earths. Just how many and where - I don't know yet. Hopefully no components are fried. The relays mostly seem ok (you can hear them clicking). I just don't have the time to handle this at the mo... Commute + work + baby + campervan project. Urgh. Might get a look before the weekend, but this is realistically going to an auto electrics shop now...

Hello MICHAEL-------- I'm genuinely sorry to hear your latest news on the Efi..Owning/running an Enfield (Classic or Efi) is meant to be basically FUN, even allowing for their quirks etc... Seems you've had an unusually high amount of bad luck with this one.........Give this chap a phone call..He's well known in the motorcycle world and has featured in several biking mags as well }-------- http://www.motorcyclewiring.co.uk/ ------------------

Provisional reports in from the electrician... the main loom was NOT badly damaged, and was entirely repairable. The ECU seems fine. The relays were melted to bits, and in fact protected the loom. Not heard the million dollar report yet (price of repair) but he had the bike running - she is still alive!! Oh... and has a sticky front caliper, but that's another issue. Of course, there is always another issue.

I don't care about the other issues though... she is still alive!

He hasn't found the root of the cause though, so perhaps I did really find it. Just too late to stop the damage.

Apparently I now have an MOT too! And... it seems like this has all been delivered by ON BUDGET :) We will see when I get her back on Monday.

Hi Michael, glad to hear it is nearly there, I sort of had the feeling the loom would be repairable. My main concern would be why the fuses didn't protect the loom in the first place. Sticky caliper can be caused by the caliper not sitting square with the disc, I have seen this before although I would be surprised with it on an EFI but anything is possible. Just loosen the caliper mounting bolts a little and if it frees up the caliper is causing the binding
