as well as a 2005 bullet with a 535 motor ,parts supplied by hitchcocks, i have a 1960 m100 panther , as i have got older i have become interested in the mechanical side . my panther has oil pouring out off the crank case along the top seam under the magneto; i have looked at the crank case release valve thinking that might be the problem ,but it was working well. people on this site have suggest cold weld products . any ideas?,thank you rick

I have tried many "cold weld" products over the years and found them all utterly useless when put under any sort of real pressure or petrol/oil contamination. It is probably better to split the cases and replace the gasket and add a smear of hylomar or hermetite too. If it's worth doing it is worth doing properly, at best cold weld is nothing but a bodge.

I have a friend with two Panthers 600 Slopers both were like self saucing puddings until he made and perfected the pressure release valves. The proof of success with the valve was obtained by making an oil plug with a pipe coming out of it and attaching a manometer to it. Both his bikes pull a column of water about six inches and neither now leak a drop.
