Whilst adding items onto the lighting circuit it suddenly dawned on me that I don't know where the fuses on this bike are, there is one in the near side tool box but I don't recall seeing any others apart from the ones that I have added, surely the whole electrical system doesn't rely on one fuse, can anyone please put my mind at rest?

Bertie, some apparently had a second one under the seat, never seen it but heard about it, most had just one and one is fine.

Sorry I don't know exactly which model your bike is, but my yr 2007 500cc classic, no elec start, had one under the seat, which I moved to be next to the other one in the tool box, just for convenience. And yes... it did catch me out once before I discovered there were two of them.
All the best, Chris

Just worried that if I manage to short the lighting circuit with all the mucking about I'm doing the bike will come to a sudden halt if the one fuse blows.

Well Bertie, seeing you are getting so smart with this wiring, you could fit another relay ( don't you just love relays) and then run power directly from the battery to the coil through another fuse and then your ignition is completely separate from the rest of the ignition, except if you blow the other fuse that runs the trigger wire to the new ignition relay but then you could, oh no just forget about it and carry spare fuses
