Hi Alan, Bondi is a bit far to go seeing it is about 500 miles away and up there at the moment the bushfires are covering thousands and thousand of acres in the Blue Mountains and slowly heading towards Sydney. There is no way of stopping these fires in the mountains unless it rains but there is no rain forecast in the near future

And just getting back to the 5 plate clutch I fitted a brand new one to my Interceptor and it lasted about 200 miles, I then put in 4 Barnett plates and it has been good for several years now

yes norm the barnet clutch plate mod is a good one , they were actually designed for a greeves bike from the 50s. I used them on my last bullet with very light springs and ATF , job sorted!

Alan, on the GP ride on Saturday stuck in the middle of 6000 odd bikes and the first 15 mins as we slowly moved forward to the starting point at less than walking pace, click into first then straight out again, stop, back into first and out again just to get you moving slightly, this year no problems at all. Some other years I have had to stop and wait for the bulk of the bikes to clear so I could get a better run at it but this year no problems

Norm, I realize you're not venturing
1000 miles north to Queensland on a
6000 'bike rally with the real bush-
fire criis enroute. But does the BBC
report just glimpsed on stringent
measures proposed to crush 'bike gangs
mean our fellow 'Enfield owners are
as endangered as any homestead is by
the fires? Machines crushed on any
conviction etc. Please, Norm, as our
reliable Oz correspondent, update us
on this!

Midge, forgive my hijacking your
authentic query, but on Norm
mentioning the real bushfire
trauma down there, just had to
ask him about the State proposal
to eliminate certain bikes in Oz.

Hi Gordon, it is pretty full on, it is on the news every day what they are trying to do to shut the outlaw clubs down, just listening to it now they are considering building special jails just for anyone convicted of being from a bikie gang and then they are thinking of pink prison garb for them as well. It is all going on right down the eastern states. They have used bulldozers to break into some of the fortified properties. I'm not sure where it is all going to end up.

Thanxs, Norm, will google ABC news
for more. Meanwhile, pray NSW fire
dangers do not bring a repeat of
the Victoria tragedy three years
ago. It is hard for our friends
in damp England to realize how
rapidly bush fires move. as I
remember as a pup in the bush
there so long ago. On back to
original thread, always find
comments on clutch and sprocket
juggling pertinent to any Brit.
machine.

Gordon,
they have lost over 200 homes at the moment and Wednesday is expected to be the worst day. I think I heard them say it has a 300 mile fire front
