Alan the use of Loctite bearing retainer is the way to go, no problems removing it later and you use different grades depending on how loose the bearing is and it certainly stops the leaks

Norm - very interesting to read of your gearbox experiences on this and the earlier threads, as I stripped my English Bullet's box recently. Among other things, I found a pri. side layshaft bush so worn, there was no need to measure it - you could actually SEE the ovality....... !

Hi John, I did the Meteor box yesterday in a couple of hours, strip it down go up the street and get new bearings and put it back together. This is because no Indian butcher had ever been near this box. I shudder every time I see a box with rounded off filler and drain plugs because you can guarantee they have been inside as well, usually with a hammer and chisel

Hi guys--------- NORM, I was referring to DEAN's posting just above mine in which I thought he was fitting a SEAL into the casing.....On re-reading it I can now see he was talking about SEALING the bearing when fitted within the casing....so YES, agree with the Loctite use in that scenario.....(Note to self}----pay money, get new glasses !!)-----
