I just want to say that oil filter magnet does the job with rebores , I might pop 2 more in as it also fills up the filter chamber faster after an oil filter and sump drain / oil change . wash it in petrol before wiping and see the nasty stuff . 2 mini ring magnets over the gauze filter would be good as well , a magnet at the bottom of the timing case ?

I'm a fan of a magnet in the system. At worse they can'do any harm and they do collect fine iron dust which can't be a bad thing. I can't see the need for more than one though. If you see more than very fine dust on the magnet it's time to investigate.

Absolutely no harm in fitting a magnet, my Super Meteor has one that was in there when I got it.

Don't forget a filter does most of the work as 90% of an engine it non magnetic.
