Oh no! Half the initial impetus was to find a classy old runner that still kept gentlemanly charm and didn't leak all over my friends drives! Hah.

Is there any way to commit semi-sacrilege and perhaps replace older original seals or whatever causes the leaking on the bike?

I'd hate to replace original parts but would really- really hate to leave an oil stain on my friends drive ways.

First one looks great! Will let you know nearer the time I am thinking on buying. Not sure on the pea green but the second seems to need attention. Not looking for a fixer upper. Will have a lot of my time and focus on merely maintaining a fully working one I think.

Sorry to resurrect a long-dead thread, but here goes. I've got a Battle-green C5 classic, but am increasingly hankering after the real thing in form of WDCO. I just wondered what people thought a sensible price was for these now and whether or not it's a regularly useable proposition? I've seen a couple around £5,000 here: http://www.wardepartment.co.uk/bikes-for-sale/ . As said in the thread, I'm assuming a 12v conversion and attention to the electrics is a good idea, but don't know how much to expect this to cost.

Here's one option for 12V electrics with the magdyno, an Alton AC generator which replaces the dynamo portion. Not cheap @ £350.00 + VAT, though - probably the dearest!

From Paul Goff's website:



"A 6V Lucas/Miller dynamo in good condition is capable of powering a 12V system allowing the use of modern lighting components. The E3H "short" dynamo will happily run a bike at 12 V fitted with the 35/35W Quartz Halogen headlight bulb. Whereas if everything is in good condition, the E3L as fitted to most 1950s twins is capable of powering the full 60/55W. There is no need to alter the dynamo in any way."

Tom, read the whole original thread. The answers to your questions are there. Prices haven't moved much except WD bikes slightly more expensive is my impression. REgards, Mark
