Tornado, my 1994 500 Military Bullet has

a smith's (chronometric?) speedo, with

no warning lights, there being a

Separate high beam and indicator lamps

In neat little holders, one each side of the

Speedo.

I assumed they were Our hosts and fitted

some time ago, but closer inspection

Shows them to be a different patten.



I looked up late 93 - early 94 Bullets

And found two more the same!

Assuming these are factory fitted, could

someone tell me what type bulbs they

are as I am in France until my return mid

October, and was thinking of fitting LED's.

Also, would Tornado be a home market

Bike, later imported to the UK, as there

seems to be no mention of a military 500

here until 2002 ?

Hi Simon there is a slight problem fitting an LED to the indicator warning light because they use one bulb to do both side indicators. It can be done because I did it on a Cafe Racer I built last year but sorry I have forgotten how I ended up wiring it. I'll have a think about it

Simon, just thinking about it I probably didn't fit LED's to the single indicator light, I fitted an alloy top yoke and thinking about it has 2 holes in the yoke and I think I fitted individual lights for each side in these holes. I don't think there is any way of using a single LED

Thanks Norm, with Thunderbolt, my EFI,

I just ordered replacement led bulbs.

They were straight swaps with the

speedo bulbs and also the pilot lights.


I now see them even in bright sunlight

especially if i did not cancel the indicator

correctly!

I don't know if the

same thing applies to older Bullets?

Hi Simon wish I knew how they can make the indicator light work with an LED. Maybe they fit a diode in each wire that goes to the indicator light. I think that would probably work

Yes Norm, blocking diodes would do it. You just need to get the diodes the right way round and the LED the right way round as well. Unlike normal bulbs they are polarity sensitive. You can shrink-sleeve them in to make them tidy. Cheap as chips on Ebay.

I fitted 2 LED's for the indicator warning system. A lot easier. Unfortunately I managed to drill the holes out of symmetry and now have to remove all - refill - and drill again.

Yes you do and to top it off I managed to get very small LED's from Dime City USA - the smallest I could find and very visible in day light.
