Hi all I've been trying to get my points to spark on my k2f magneto, when I put the older style brass plate set in I get a snappy spark even though they are the anti clockwise type but when trying several of the steel plate ones with no added grounding brush on the backside I get nothing. I've checked and cleaned the main grounding brush and all connections, Is there any way to get these newer style points to ground better? Thank's fo any suggestions.

Do you mean a high tension spark? The low tension spark that you would typically see on a set of points in a battery and coil set up is a lot harder to spot on a mag as the armature is providing the low tension current. If you are getting no spark at the HT then you probably need to change the cam plate so that the mag is set for the right direction. Haven't had too much to do with K2F's but it may be that you can just reposition it to work in reverse.

Thanks for the suggestion on the cam ring,Mine looks to be correct along with the slip ring. Turns out to be the wrong points set installed,I just reversed a steel plate set to run clockwise and it turns out after looking closely at them only one side actualy has the tungston contact and the other is just a steel rivet,Boy being a rookie at these things can sure get you in a lot of trouble. I've learned a lot about these mags but am probubly better off to leave any major stuff to the pros.

K2F is not a particularly good mag because of its design, the SR2 is a much better mag, so much simpler, juts a bit too tall and will make fitting a Concentric a bit of a problem because the float bowl gets in the way. Once upon a time mag specialists were everywhere but these days few and far between at least out here.

I agree that the SR series are the acme of magneto design with rotating magnets and standard points and condenser setup but there is no reason a K2F can't be made to work perfectly well. It's also the right mag for the bike so for originalities sake I say stick to it!
