That is a new can of worms.

Were new rings fitted in connection with a rebore, or you decided to fit new rings and overhaul the top end but did not rebore?

Will not speculate further without your input (I had a Crusader many moons ago, loved it.)

Sweeper- you might be able to help am trying to remove the froks from the nacel of my 1966 crusader, but can't get em to budge, Have you taken your fork legs out and if yes am i correct to say that they unscrew in a clockwise direction also is there anything else which would hold the legs in place?
If you have taken your fork legs out how did you do it, am going to have to resort to a hammer gun (like those used at the tyre places for wheel removal) your feed back might save the day, if that don't work then i will have to think of another plan of action, but at the moment am open to suggestion.

Guru, you need to make sure the lower yoke pinch bolts are loose and that the stanchions are free to move in the bottom yoke eyes so run some penetrating oil in there. The nacelle threads are fine alloy and can seize, you won't get penetrating oil in but a heat gun may well do the trick. If the seizure is really bad it'll have to be a blowlamp for real localised heat but this will, of course, spoil the paint.

Mark- is it a normal thread ie, when sitting on the bike its clockwise to undoo? how far are the legs screwed into the nacele (the top 1 inch 2, 3?) it will give me an idea how far they are out when i do manage to unscrew em.

Quick one on seats, am going for a recover this or next week, what is the seat's colour is it black sides with grey ribbed top?

Guru, normal thread so clockwise to undo, that's what fools many dismantlers! As to seat, what model is it? Have a look in the Photo Gallery here under Original Brochure pictures for an idea of what the Factory thought they were selling!

Mark, its a 1965 Crusader Sport which i picked up a few weeks ago. I need to remove the lower leg to get the mudguard lug ally welded (inner leg), some heavy handed person before me has over tightened the inner leg bold and split the lug leaving only half of it in tact (Mark how much of the leg is threaded into the nacele?) I have removed the pinch bolts as you would then tapped in a wedge to open em out a little but still no joy, have not yet tried it with heat yet, have just picked up a long snap-on tommy bar (3ft) i see how it goes when combined with heat (i was thinking of applying the heat to the inner nacelle area, would you recon thats a good place to heat?

Guru, heat will fix it up under the top around the thread area, shouldn't damage the paint it doesn't need to get that hot but sometimes without heat they will not move, I have tried the rattle gun and long bar with no joy but as soon as the heat was applied no problems
