Hello, Can anyone tell me what the two bolt holes are for, and size bolt they take, that are located on the both sides of the frame just in front of the upper rear shock mounts on a Mk1A Interceptor? I believe they might be for a sidecar attachment but am not sure. I would like to use the threaded one but need to know what size bolt and thread pitch it is. I can't find this in any parts manual.

These holes were on virtuall all twins and Bullets from around 1956 to late 60's. I think they were originally intended for sidecar mounts but the 12v Interceptors also used one of them for the heat sink/Zenor. The thread is 1/2" bscy (26tpi)

They could be sidecar mounts but l doubt it as this is not a strong mounting point. They are however, used for mounting the optional factory supplied pannier frames.

I figured both sets of openings, the rear one being threaded, were most likely mounting points for a sidecar with the owners choice of side for mounting. They seem to be a bit excessive for mounting pannier frames. Still however, perhaps Hitchcocks has the mounting bolt that would fit the rear threaded opening. Thank you Mark, and thanks Chevy for providing the size.

Rick, some models had the holes (presumably part of the pressing fabrication process,) but not the threaded inserts. I have a frame of this type. The threaded holes were also used on the Indian Chief models to mount the seat support rails. As to size, I don't think it excessive for panniers if you think how they mount, a big proportion of the load goes through this point. However they are certainly too light for a sidecar!
