I still dream of the day I could afford our hosts top of the range crank with the R15 big end kit and a forged steel rod , 1,000 pounds is a fair chunk of money but you could really work the engine hard without the fear of disaster and I could raise my comp ratio's to 12:1 and run on methonal .
I have tuned the engine in so many ways with our hosts kits but could not seem to find the money for a new crank as mine is bog STD mid 90's classic engine , everythings OK with it's floating bush and alloy Indian rod but it has it's limits like blasting around with hard acceleration all the time and high speed motorway riding for extended periods . The vellocettes record of 24 hours at 100 mph is something that not even with the best bits could an Enfield reach , I would love to know if someone has ever tried it , the record was made at Montlhery
