Back in February I asked about RE dealers in Spain as a trip to Segovia was planned.
I had no success in finding the locations of any dealers prior to the trip but I'm pleased to say that I didn't need them.Alan R expressed surprise That I should go to Spain on a Bullet,well 2800 miles without any problems at all save for a puncture right outside the Michelin depot (handy eh?)just bolsters my confidence in the old style Classic Bullet.
A few years ago I rode the bike to Istanbul and back and thought I'd done ever so well.
When I got home I found that at the same time a friend had been riding from Nepal to Rugby!! He did have reliability problems though;he blew a headlamp bulb!!

That is the most re-assuring thing i've heard on this site. At the moment i'm breathing a sigh of relief after a short ride out to Bridgenorth and back (and i live in Stourbridge)!!

Hi guys----------Hello DAVE and}--- HOO-RAY !!, just goes to show that it's NOT all Doom & Gloom owning a Bullet, eh ??.... Also I'd like to be the first to congratulate you on disproving my SLIGHT apprehension that I may have had at the time...seriously, well done, matey !! Right now I could do with some cheering-up as... a)The sun is shining---that's good, BUT---b)After 18 months of solid service my No1 Bullet's big-end has started to "Growl" (and No2 isn't ready yet),....c) The garage roof has sprung a leak,......d) My Direct Debit repayments to 'er indoors starts on Aug. 1st,.......... and my Mother had a stroke recently (at age 95!!) but seems to be recovering ok..................LEE B, we must get together sometime for a tea and chinwag etc.???..I've got the loan of a BSA B40 at the mo. so am still mobile.........how about QUATT Cafe' some time ?? I'll get the "Drinks" in if you like ??----------------------------- To be fair to this and other Enfield sites (and the bike itself) if you compare the number of posts against the total number of owners/riders on the road then it's not ALL that bad at all really-------------( He said--until my HT coil, throttle cable, new inlet valve, new Mk1 Concentric, spare cylinder head and now big-end --- gave problems , and all in the last 18 months as well !!) BUT, putting my own probs. into perspective we had been to S.Wales---N.Yorkshire----a full trip around the outskirts of Birmingham---- several Club rides of 200 miles or more and numerous local hops to our usual Cafe's etc....Sorry DAVE P, I'm ranting on a bit---------can I borrow your big end please ???

Nice one dave on a stress free trip. I would take a guess that your bike is reasonably standard and that you take it pretty easy. I hope to ride through Spain and do a loop in morocco on my 350 fairly soon but a shakedown trip in the uk will be done first. Did you blog the trip? Would love to see some pics and some info on your bike.

Nice to hear from you rustygman.I didn't blog the trip.A bit to technical for me,and I'm sorry but I don't know how to add a photo'to this site.The bike is a 2008 500 Classic K/start model with a few minor deviations from standard.
Gearing is up one tooth on the final drive sprocket for slightly more relaxed cruising.It has our host's 1950's extra loud exhaust system (makes one slightly self conscious in town)with the standard Micarb jetted and 'er slided??? to suit.The push rods and adjusters are the better quality English made Mr H specials as I'd heard of the original adjusters failing on occasion.I replaced the standard seat with the later style dual seat again from our host.This has been of great benefit to my posterior which as age advances seems to be the only part of my carcass which is loosing weight.I use the standard tyres for my model which are Avon SM's.They are absolutely fine and last well.As for taking it pretty easy,yes I think you're right there.Normal cruising about 55mph (60mph on the clock)the occasional burst up to 65mph when I'm overcome by youthful exuberance!!(increasingly rare)Heavy duty leather panniers of the fixed variety from Mr H and a waterproof Ortlieb bag constitute the touring gear.Those leather panniers make good crashbars in the event of a spill and can be repaired with black boot polish.Now how do I know that?
