Hi Stu - thanks for your post it is reassuring others treat these bikes with a bit of gusto - changing the engine oil is key. I have done 5500 miles on mine and changed the oil 6 times. It is happiest at speed. Re the new Café Racer, I was tempted until I tried a UCE bike, and decided against it, as I think at this point that my Velocette Clubman is difficult to beat. I will however keep a keen eye on developments.

1000 miles in 22 hours back in May on a 2011 Woodsman with an Ironbutt Association certificate for my efforts. For me 55 - 60 is where it's at , ride 200 miles fill up and repeat ! Simples

It's now done 8,000 miles since November, 3 oil changes so far looking at attempting another longer IBA ride in the next month or so.

Always makes me smile, I have a number of bikes including a Pan European (for doing road rallies and long distance events on) but not really used them much this year. You see so much more on an Enfield and its stress free motorcycling ( well until the odd bit falls off !) it's reminded why I got into bikes in first pace you sort of forget it riding big tourers all the time, as long as Mr H keeps supplying the bits I'll keep riding it !

Stu,
9500 miles you can't call that a big deal, and sophiaspin has a cast iron and not an Electra and Electras don't pull the tops of pistons as the cast ones do, if you run them hard, and trust me running a standard cast iron at 75 mph is hard it won't last long

Norm I don't think anyone here would run a cast iron bike full on non-stop. Nothing wrong with a ten minute hard A road blast with long stretches and sweeping bends pushing the bike but not wrecking it. Like Stu I could hold it at 70mph nae bother with throttle slightly open.
