There appears to be an on going thread with gear selection problems, clutch adjustment, gear selector adjustment and so on, my Bullets being a swine at the moment and I feel the selector is the problem, its just to course and crude. I am sure that nice Mr H could come up with a modification perhaps with a fine vernier adjustment instead of trying to move that back plate around to get the thing to engage.

problem here is 2 different gearboxes this one is about the 5 speed from what I read in your post you have a 4 speed and because of poor original design you are stuck with the problem. The adjuster plate although crude is reasonable to set up but what I have found in a few cases is the ratchet is the bigger problem. I have had to build the teeth up be nearly 2mm on a couple of ratchets to get them to select all the gears. Not a simple fix as many hours spent on working out the problem, then fixing it. New ratchet didn't fix it, had to be modified
