Hi Oz..,
I took delivery of my EFI Classic In January 2012. Very cold winter that year in Switzerland. It would start in the garage, no problem, then I would ride out. After about 1km, the engine lost power, had to change right down to 1st but no power. would hardly tick over without lots of throttle. Finally engine stopped and after about 3 minutes would start and run normally for the rest of the day. As soon as we got above freezing, I rode over to my dealer in Germany and he fitted a "new" ECU. Although he claimed it was special export version, the reference number it carried was identical to the old one. Rode home and what do you know, at next bout of cold weather, same problem.
Eventually further advice from the dealer, after starting I left it in the garage ticking over for about 3 or 4 minutes and no more problem. Went through a 2nd winter with no further problem. Original plug now 8,500km, never had it out to look at it and I get on average 3.5Litres/100km (That is 81m.p.g)
Lambda sensor is unlikely to be the problem and they are mega costly. Best bet is to get it back to a dealer with the correct computer diagnostics and EFI experience and get it checked out.
