Hi
I've fitted a compression plate and gaskets during my 612 build raising the barrel and head by 4.5 mm. The front exhaust pipe bracket has obviously be raised by the same amount. I can see no option but to slot the bracket bolt hole but before I do has anyone got any good ideas? The pipe has never fitted well and will probably clout the underside of the engine somewhere, I can see this being an 'orrible' job.
Thanks for you help.

Hi guys---------- Hello BOBw, Yes, EVERYTHING that is either attached OR related to the barrell height will be effected...........eg}--- carb clearance under frame, engine head steady, inlet rocker box fitting, pushrod/rocker angle, external oil pipe to banjos', and as already discovered---the exhaust pipe clearances..... I initially fitted a 3mm plate to my Classic 500 when trying our hosts 8.5 : 1 piston as I wasn't sure of clearances and also wanted to drop the CR to an approx 7:1 ( It was the forged properties that I was after------- I see they now offer a forged piston in Std. CR !!!---Just my luck..)----- And yes, I also had to "Tweak" the pipe/bracket relationship to make anything fit, if you get my drift ?? ( In the vernacular of the MoD. I applied an external physical force via the implementation of}--- "Hammers, Sledge, No1.a (Pipes, re-routing), for the use of" )--------- PS}--- I've since taken the plate off !!

Thanks for the response Alan. No problem with the carb, feed pipes, rocker cover etc. One thing I've learnt from 40 years of aerospace engineering is never to assume you know it all, always ask just in case someone has a bright idea. I doubt there are any options (better fitting pipe design, goldie. 50s etc) and in 10 years of Bullet ownership a rubber mallet is as a rough as I've got. Cheers.

Hi BOBw---------- Hello matey and yes, you're welcome but I was of course, joking regarding the sledge hammer--LoL !!--Rubber mallet only deployed as per yourself....There is a very innovative mod. on one of the other sites regarding making a clamp to draw the exhaust pipe in towards the barrel....It involves drilling two holes down through the fins either side of the exhaust outlet...These two holes then have a round metal "slug" placed in them into which a threaded hole has been made... A fitted collar on the pipe carries two threaded bolts which engage into the "slugs" and pulls the pipe into the head.....Wish I could remember where I saw it last !!----------- Have a good-'un
