For all of you who like an Indian motorcycle industry "sources close to" gossip story, Polaris, (makers of the bloody awful Victory V twin and now owners of the US Indian name,) are allegedly in talks with Eicher Industries to use the dormant Jaipur Bullet plant to produce new machines although they are hinting at "passenger vehicles". Conspiracy enthusiasts could join the dots from a Victory to an Interbhaji...

Mark, norm....they build those "ugly" bikes because they sell well and make loads of money for Polaris, who also make snowmobiles etc.

Guess I can't argue with that Mike, but they look just so vulgar and a big plie of nothing, no style, just big and in your face

If the Polaris talks are real (and the Indian sources are so vague you'd need to believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy,) then Eicher's goal might be to badge a V twin as an Enfield and in return Polaris get access to the still quite import restricted Indian market for their other vehicles. If you think about it a V twin "Interceptor" would make sense, young Indians know nothing about parallel twins made in England so the Bullet heritage doesn't help. However they do know about big fat ugly American v twins because the poxy things are everywhere in lazy advertising and "lifestyle" images and that's the real growing market there. You can read the background on George Pulin's Blog, "My Royal Enfields". Anyway, soapbox safely put away now! REgards, Mark

Ah well, personally I rather LIKE some of the Victory models!! Which is something coming from someone who isn't a fan of "cruisers", in general.

One things for sure, most of the reports I've read seem to suggest they're better put together than those "Hardly Moving Sons".

Tim, I deliberately didn't say I dislike them all (V twins,) because I do actually, and the Victory isn't a bad looking bike. I think that perhaps the heavyweight Custom style doesn't really belong with the Enfield heritage but that's the point that a lot of the enthusiasts of a potential new twin have missed, Eicher are the new owners of the name and they will do what will sell in their Home market! Hi guys---------- Those Victory machines may lack some visual cred. but their engineering is bang up to date... take a look at this}----------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Motorcycles ------------------- Beauty, eye of beholder etc. ??? -------------- Back in the day wasn't this the Beez-neez ??}----------- http://classic-motorbikes.net/images/ga ... _vtwin.jpg ----------- I also love a V-twin, having owned and ridden Moto-Guzzi V50, Strada 1000, California 1100i...My nextdoor neighbour is a big Harley owner/enthusiast and was quite intrigued with the Cali...I demonstrated the different approach by holding two fingers in-line in front of me and explained this was the way of yer actual Harley....I then turned my fingers such that they were at 90 degrees and by moving them up and down, demonstrated (or Demon-Strated, as per dear Fed Dibnah)--- how a Guzzi worked !!..... Hasn't spoken to me since !!
