Hey group
Am about to have my petrol tank chromed, I was told that the procedure involves sink it in various tanks with liquids, since the tap and the petrol cap have been removed from the tank all these liquids will actually enter the inner surface of my tank, will they damage the inside of the tank? And will I have any engine performance problems? If yes any idea as to how I can overcome this, shall I somehow seal the two above holes?

Years ago, I used to work in an electroplaters. You're right in saying that your tank will get dunked in assorted liquids. By and large, the inside of the tank won't really be effected (shadow effect), but the thread for the petrol tap will. I recommend that you plug this hole with something that doesn't conduct electricity (rubber bung, etc). Otherwise the plating will effect the threads.

Pat at the risk of stating the blindingly obvious......speak to your plater and he will advise how he will overcome the problem, and what if anything he wants you to do. He may prefer to do the masking himself to avoid the risk of contaminating his tanks. HTH.
