well probably the most reliable enfield in the world blew up last night in nottinghamshire after a great weekend in surrey and leicestershire it over did it when it began to run on its own engine oil smoking like the car on james bond and revving until it popped happy days must strip and ascess i see the 1000cc twin cylinder engine is back on ebay i may go and view it tomorrow but at 1000 barnsley pounds a overhaul might be in order ,remember this though if you don,t use them they never wear out so get out there while the sun is shining!!is that allan's (hitchcock) hands rubbing i need some spares so get ready for an order soon hope i,ve not made you cringe!!happy days paul

Hello PAUL------------- do you have an oil-filled air filter system at all ??----They were a bugger for running-on uncontrolled... I had that happen to me on a Royal Mail van ( British Leyland LD )in the workshops and the only way to stop it was to put a 1" plywood board over the intake trumpet, --NOT YOUR HAND !!!-------- Nottingham's a nice enough place to have a rest anyway...NIL DESPERADUM old son..I've just got back from an evening run where the ignition felt like it was over advanced all of a sudden..(Almost like a Diesel Knock in fact !!)...One of the distributor plate screws has stripped somehow and the other one was loose !! ---- Slack maintenance from an HNC, "specialist" technician I employed last week ---------- OH DEAR, that would be me then ??-------------Yoo-Hoo Mr. H, yet more orders (for that helicoil repair kit this time I think)
