Phil, I will ask you the question then with a 4 wire stator using only 3 coils what is the benefit, everybody has ideas but nobody can give me an answer

Hi Norm, Phil modified an early(1995) model & is therefore not comparing not comparing like with like. ... I too fitted a Boyer Powerbox to our 1992 bike for similar reasons but in a rather less complex manner. A piece of 4mm thick aluminium cut & shaped to fit on the dualseat front mounts carries the Powerbox, Boyer ignition box and the indicator flasher unit. The whole thing sitting in a constant airflow needs no extra cooling

Hi Bryan, I know what Phils reply is all about but we are talking about different wiring systems here and I know how good a powerbox is but the original poster has a problem with a late E/S bike that uses only 3 coils for charging and three coils to run the headlight and to this stage nobody can give me a benefit of fitting a Boyer to this setup. A 4 wire fed directly to the Battery and a Boyer is a must, but on a sixty5 this requires significant wiring mods. If anybody has sugestions I'm all ears

Norm, on both my bullets the indicators speed up the higher the revs, this no longer happens on the bike fitted with the powerbox which would indicate better voltage control. Having paid a lot of money for a gel battery I feel it's going to have a much better life. They are much neater than separate units and from what I've read are far more reliable.

Pale rider, I agree totally with you but still nobody has answered the original posters question, he has a problem with his headlight which fitting a Boyer will change nothing unless somebody can tell me how to use a powerbox instead of an AC regulator

It sounds to me Norm that the output from the alternator has been joined together and the headlight is now running off the dc side of the regulator. This would account for the previous replacement curing the problem.

Pale rider, I can assure you that very few on this board would be capable of doing the conversion to a sixty5 to get it to run a D/C headlight

Having read through this thread a few times it appears that the question was, will the powerbox replace the lighting AC regulator, the answer is no it won't.

Thanks Dennis as with most forums you get so many answers that don't answer the original posters problem
