Hi ChrisD,
We had a discussion about running a twin plug setup from the std advance unit.
What coil are you using? Are you using anything different concerning the condensers?
I had an old Suzuki coil which I tried driving from the points but it seems to be dead. Want to be sure to buy something that works.

I use the twin coil sold by our hosts. That works fine, just needs the standard single condensor. I previously tried it with two separate coils but that needed two condensors to avoid burning out the points. You can cram two into the ignition space but the multiple joints is a recipe for failure. As far as cooling goes, I rode the bike for a while at 125kph - long downhill screaming its head off (near home so I thought let it blow, I've always got my Beemer). But it stood up to it quite well. Remember I have an alloy barrel, metal-metal head joint (with ring seals cut into the barrel for the pushrod tunnels) and larger valves as well as the high capacity oil pumps. So it runs cool, but is that all due to the more complete burn hence less unburnt fuel to attack the exhaust valve? I don't know. Sounds good though!
