Thats shocking .
My 1995 export 500 classic ( last of the non metric bikes ) has rubber bushes that have a steel outer ring and a sleel inner tube so there was no surface movement , if the swing arm moved up it was just the rubber twisting .
Their still on there with no wear at all , totaly increadible !
Why on earth did they re-design it into throw away status .
The british version did wear slowly but mine could keep going for decades it seems .
I must add that it has the original stiff spring rear shocks .
Can you convert it ? Our hosts might be able to help .

You just fit the earlier rubber bushes, at least thats what I think they are. I have fitted them but not bought them but they looked like the standard old bushes so I assume that is what they are

It's amazing that having come up with the time, money and complication saving silent block bush system for the swinging arm that anyone would feel the need to reinvent it. My old 51 Bullet was beautifully engineered in that department but to get it together and apart was a bit of effort. The incredibly simple silent blocks in the 91 or 2 bitsa struck me as pure genius. My dear old Dad worked testing silent blocks at an agricultural testing station in Lancashire ( I believe ) before WW2 and he recond they were astounded at what they could achieve. He also told me that by far the most efficient wheel in mud was the traditional old cart wheel. Better than any other water filled or spike covered contender. On telling the Wheelwright apparently the old boy just said " I could a told thee that".
