I have an 2003 Indian Enfield which I purchased from a dealer in the west country well over a year ago - I paid £1,500 for it on the understanding that it was mint.

Suffice to say when it was delivered under the cover of darkness it was horrible, anyhow to cut a long story short I have completely re built it using everything from Hitchcocks.

I chose a 1950's look.

*The bike now has a 500 rear mudguard and stays.

*Single Sprung Seat

*All fluids replaced, forks, gearbox and engine (new magnetic sump plug and flush)

Kick start pawl replace
gear box overhauled - re packed with veedol after full inspection
Electronic Boyer ignition fitted
Boyer power box fitted to replace to poor quality Indian set up
Coil replaced
Carburettor changed to Amal 28mm,
Front brakes re skimmed and set up professionally so it now stops
Oil pump - re built - new drive and shaft
Top end de-coked and all new gasgits
Alloy exhaust cooling ring
New petrol tank tap
Open rear exhaust (Megaphone) - sounds great.
Under sear electrics cover fitted.
Hitchcocks fibreglass coil cover fitted.
Replica Smiths speedometer fitted
Mini indicators and relay
New number plate, UK legal
New rocker feed pipe
Sump oil pressure relief valve

The list goes on and on - every mechanical part ex Hichcocks -receipts for everything, Taxed and tested - Immaculate condition.
Mileage when purchased by me was shown at 4,500 klms, speedo changed - now 415 miles.
would benefit from someone riding it, I cant find the time.

Offers around £1,900.

Blimey Nige, if I did all that to any bike the last thing I would do is sell it on to someone else to ride. Don't sell it, find time to enjoy it otherwise you will regret it one day. Just saying.

Yes gents, it's very pleasing to the eye and rides well. Our hosts know the bike and I think will confirm it's
a lovely looking machine.

All the best Nige.

Hi Nige,

PLEASE do not sell! (or at least think long and hard before you do)
I read your posting with a great deal of respect and admiration. I sold my first Bullet after doing pretty much all the same mods you've done and regretted doing so,almost immediately.

After spending three years in a Japanese wilderness, I returned back to the fold with a 350 Bullet Classic and am glad I did. Probably like you, I struggle to get out on it as often as I'd like, but it's well worth the effort, believe me.

Many thanks for you're kind words Tim but the time to move forward has come - I did take the Bullet for a short spin today and it's great and can't be compared to anything modern, with a charm all it's own.

It's put away with a fresh coat on polish and ready for sale or maybe another quick run out & about.

Cheers Nige.

Many thanks gents - the work has resumed - being ever critical I have removed the coil mounting plate which was in need of a spuce up and flatted it back to bare metal, treated the edges with jenolite and since given it 4 coats of primer, 1st top coat of acrylic now drying nicley - it was the only thing not powder coated or treated after all the other work.

I have removed the megaphone and downpipe and replaced it with a brand new system - the megaphone sounds great and worked well with the Amal 28mm carb but is just asking for a ticket.

Maybe a tuned head for my next trick!

All the best, Nige.
