Do bullet riders generally prefer the casquette to non casquette? Personally I think it is a nice design, certainly better than the contempory 50's casquettes of other bike marques. Does it look better than the earlier alloy top yoke and seperate headlight? My bike originally had the earlier set up and I keep toying with the idea of putting it back to original. It has a casquette now but I can't decide which looks best, casquette I think.

yes chris im with you on the coquette preference iv just changed to gaiter's and I think it looks better still
the standard steel covers were rusting on the inside depositing the brown stuff on the fork seal as well
as the scoring on the alloy fork leg now sorted see you all tomorrow night atb john

chris its a no brainer casquette is best i can tell you from a recent experience with the alloy top yoke ,although to do the alloy yoke the loom needs extending or all the wiring ends up very stretched in the back of the headlamp shell ,kevin did well with the frame almost paid for his 51 model!!atb paul.

I like the casquette it is a properly good design. Though it's odd how the rubber round the speedo has to make it sort of face a bit away from you but that doesn't spoil it for me. Somebody stopped to look at mine outside the house at the weekend and he just said he liked the little sidelights. Not sure how much use they are , but they are interesting anyway. Chris

Me I prefer the older style separate headlamp look. The late 50's cowled in thing was stylistically quite a dramatic turn around, much like the one that happened in the early to late 30's with cars. Spare uncluttered bodywork was replace with valances and raised beads and other showy bits. Then of course afterwards in the 80's everything went razor edge and then organic round soft shapes. Nothing certain except change I suppose. I really like the early 50's look. spartan and purposeful. But hey everyone to their own.

I personally think the full casquette is one of the most distinctive parts of the Bullet. It is a beautifully designed piece, the angles, the various shapes within, the integration of the other components. Uniquely distinctive and Beautifull......Yup, in a nut shell!
