Been reading a topic on the 'midlandbullets' forum, about someone who fitted one of those ebay supplied Indian pistons, with catastrophic consequences, worth a read if you're passing. Looks like it parted company with the rod and took out the whole engine !
The moral here is, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is ! Worth paying the extra and buy from our hosts or reputable supplier.

but the pistons are made in india? , if this was a genuine enfield part on ebay , it would be identical to the indian one supplied by hichcocks

I would imagine there is a lot of crap swilling about in India, especially on Ebay ......I mean, crappier than the genuine RE Indian stuff.
Can't image why people cut corners with a thing like a piston, especially as Mr H will sell you a nice forged one.

I wouldn't mind registering at Midlandbullets (it helps to keep the idiots out) but do object to waiting to be approved!

only fit a part made by the MFG or a recognised company , pistons made in a back room on a street in india are not going to work.

That's the problem, there are so many con artists around. What you see and what you get are not always the same thing.
By the way, I believe there's no waiting for approval now, you just need to register I think. Personally I'm all for it, like you say, it keeps the riff raff out !

I joined the midlandbullets site yesterday, and to be honest, it's no different from registering for this forum really is it? So does that make this a club too ? Actually they emphasise that they are not a club and everyone is welcome. Remember how the conversations went down hill here a while back before the changes about registering. Forum monitoring is a necessity if you want to maintain order. I wish I'd joined there ages ago now, there's certainly a wealth of information, and I'll certainly direct anyone there !
Anyway, back to the subject of ebay Indian suppliers. I admit to buying some parts from there, and it certainly can be hit and miss on the quality of what you receive, even when it says 'genuine parts' it's possibly come out of the rejects bin. I know if our hosts were to sell some of the same condition items I've received, they wouldn't be in business very long. It's easy to be swayed by cheap prices, and maybe for smaller items it's worth the risk, but if you need it quick and want quality, then best shop here.

And that's a bad thing ? Can't see the problem myself, the majority of privately owned forums require you to register. Usually run by a single person who pays sever bills out of their own pocket, I know if it were me, I'd certainly want people to register. Would you want every spammer and email harvester getting hold of your details ? Because that's what can happen when you have an 'open' forum. At the end of the day, it's for your protection too.
