just got my gearbox back together and it shifted a couple times and then I heard a rather loud clunk while shifting back into neutral with the neutral finder. Since then it won't shift into any gear and the lever for the neutral finder almost feels like it is stuck. Is it apparent what is wrong, or do I need to tear it all apart. Could I have screwed up the neutral finder when I put it back together to the point where it won't let the gearbox out of neutral? Any ideas on where I need to start and what to look for?

probably should have told you that I recently tore it apart to put new sealed bearings in it to try to get rid of the leaking problem and hopefullt smoothen things out a bit.

Hi Dean, Have you left out the large washer on the operator shaft... it fits over the square end and is the last thing to go on before the outer case is fitted..

Without it the neutral finder will tighten back too far and will catch on the outer case...

the washer is accounted for. took the neutral finder lever off and it still won't go into gear

I can get it into 1st gear by use of the neutral finder lever
