Ok. Stumped by this one. 2007 Electra x (Minda levers). How do you remove the Brake Light Switch from the front brake light lever? I cannot see any 'screws' etc and it doesn't just pull out so before i start exerting too much force any advice please?

HI Lee, Its difficult to describe without a picture but the switch has two moulded arrow heads one each side, which spring outwards to lock the switch into the lever. These often break off which allows the switch to move away from the lever thus brake light stays on constantly...
Use a small screwdriver to push in each arrow in turn to unlock it from the lever and the switch will pull out...
do not force.. cheers gwilly

Hi guys-----------GWILLY, do you mind if I just add a teeny bit more ??..I had this same problem recently on my Classic 500 with disc conversion...LEE B, GWILLY is spot-on except that those 2 little heads spring outwards and locate into the lever HOUSING, not the lever itself...You can dismantle the switch and repair it---but carefully as it's quite small in there... Mine wouldn't return fully on the odd occasion....Turned out to be a mixture of grease and dust etc....A strip, clean and re-assemble using a thin application of light oil and it's as good as new..........

Oh yes !! That old "Perch" conundrum from a few months back---------- How's the leg coming on, cobber (or in your case--hobbler !!) ???

Hold on a second guys - if it is a disc brake model the brake switch slides in from the front of the lever bracket....you simply remove the lever blade at the pivot, disconnect the two wires to the switch inside the headlamp/casquette/whatever arrangement you have, and the switch simply pushes out from the back (or pulls out from the front, if you prefer!) and the wires are pulled through the hole in the brake lever bracket. That's how it works on mine, anyway!!

Winkie - i think you're right- that's how it looks to me - i just wanted to make sure before i applied 'applicable force'!! (Lump hammer anyone!!)
