Gwilly, the numbers on the bearing match up with what I ordered. It is the sealed bearing from Hitchcocks. You are right though, the case came off fairly easily, just assumed the new sealed bearings were designed to be a snugger fit.

Sorry Dean, haven't been following this but from what I have just picked up are you talking about the outer cover bearing, this should be a slip fit on the mainshaft, once you tighten the nut up this locks the bearing to the shaft. I have on several occasions been given the wrong bearing for this one, only one I ever have had problems with

got it back together, but had to seat the mainshaft into the bearing and put it in as a unit. good thing the gasket seal was slow acting, as it did take a bit of time.
