"Hello DIY fans--" ( Reg, from The Kenny Everett show)----I'm a simples person & this is a simples probs }---so why can't I do it then???  How do you remove the fork shrouds from a 500 Bullet once the stanchion is out ??? They seem to be trapped inside a rubber ring that's up inside the casquette. Any ideas ???

Hello guys  and PROBLEM SOLVED !! I wanted to take the shrouds orft 'cause I'm fitting nice, new, rubbery MrH's gaitors. ( the gaitors are rubbery, not MrH----------oh, you know what I mean !!). Can't afford the £20 or so for a pair of chromed short shrouds but remembered a tip seen in club mag about sawing the original shrouds about 3" below the top. Thought it looked too dificult in situ but seeing it getting even more comlicated for a simples result made me re-consider. I marked off the place witha strip of 2" masking tape, gently applied the POWER SAW---no,no that was Reg again----applied the hacksaw and bingo---job done in less than 5 mins per side. Problem now is I've got to slacken the yokes anyway to help re-align the very fine thread at the top of each stanchion. HO-hum----------------back to it then.   Thanks for input--------- see you later
