Hi
The correct method to soften/anneal copper is to heat to chery red & immediately
quench/cool in cold water.

Hi LOCO BUILDER BRI (loving that handle---5" gauge by any chance ??)----------- that's absolutely correct BUT I would ask anybody using this guide to actually have a look at a cherry... I say this only because of the number of times I've seen the copper being heated to a BRIGHT red whereas a cherry is a DULL red... Too much heat will oxidise or burn the item....

Actually it matters not whether you quench copper or not when annealing. Quenching does usually flake the oxide off for you though.
