Hi one & all,
Just fitted replacement springs to the front forks, supplied by Hitchcocks to my 1959 250cc Clipper. Unfortunately they do not supply the rear springs only the complete rear unit. as these springs are still on the machine I do not have any idea about there size etc, Any help where I might find replacements would be greatly appreciated lads.
Cheers.

Howzie, what makes you think you need new ones? In my experience (in other words I may well be wrong!) while the fronts do sink the rears are usually ok.

Hi Mark,
Just working on the fact that after 54 years of use, and they should hopefully be just be half the cost of the front forks, it can't do any harm!
Cheers.

You can get the old ones re tempered if you can find a spring maker locally. I've had a few sets done over the years and the result was brilliant. I was told that the second temper can last a bit longer than the first but haven't kept a bike long enough to prove it. You do need to know the original uncompressed length of the spring other wise you can end up with them a bit too long ( or short I suppose).

Thanks Simon, Unfortunately I do not know of any spring manufactures in my area, so I will keep trying to find a dealer.
Cheers.
