After my missive on the subject of so called "heat Dispersant Paints" I did some interwebbynet research (Google). Whilst the Simonize and other products are freely available for sale from all over the world, I couldn't find a single item explaining what the paint would achieve, apart from blacking, or how it would work. I found this strange as the only substantive Google entries all appeared to be adverts selling the stuff. Paul MH you say that it "works well". Do you mean that it stays black for a lengthy period or are you able to confirm that it disperse heat? If so how much and how do you measure it I wonder? I'm still convinced that it is snake oil, apart from being resistant to heat and thus not burning off of the metal.

Thanks, guys, for the info, your searching skills are much better than mine. I'm new to the old bike scene and I don't have any experience of using the paint on bikes. I used to use it on oil coolers fitted to high performance VW engines where it would lower the oil temperature about 5degC. (Don't worry Alan, the pain will soon go!) Tony.

This may sound unlikely but B&Q barbeque black paint works.

Pot Black is finished???!!! :O Glad I bought a second tin last time. Mind you the finish was very matt. most m/c iron barrels seem to have a gloss finish.

Try Frost Restoration, they sell all sorts of stuff, including heat dispersal paint - not cheap mind you, but a lot of their stuff is not available anywhere else (sadly).

Hi guys----------- interesting video there GWILLY,------ Wish I had an oven like that in my workshop..You could get a damm big Turkey in there at Christmas time ??.... Is there a UK retailer for that paint ??
