Hello Everyone!

A friend of mine is planning to upgrade his carb and we thought TM30 will be good for a 350 UCE so we started checking on the net.. but not so sure about the jetting part. I was just wondering if anyone here used them on their UCE350s. For my VM34 carb, I had to change pilot, main and needles so do we need to do the same for Tm30s ?

Hello DAMPKING, shall I start the ball rolling ??------- The first question has to be WHY does your friend think that his current carb. needs "upgrading" ??... If the bike's running ok then leave well alone is the best thing he can do IMHO.... On the other hand if he's fitted non-standard parts ( The old "Bolt-on" favourites being free-flowing air filter and open-type exhaust system), then we'll need to know some tech. details before going further..

Hello Alan,

Actually he's bored of the current setup and wanted some more crisp. So he got a megaphone, going for Uni air filter and next will be the 30mm TM30. All good so far but few extra mph and some serious acceleration is fun at times. Me and my friend's are at 3000ft/alt and a lot of good places to see, a LOT of Twisties! So its fun you know :P

For now, I do not know if we need to get a different needle for the carb to work on an UCE350, I think with his free flow set up, 22.5 pilot and 140 main should be OK but it's his bike so I don't want to experiment and thought of asking experts about this, as I am a rookie when it comes to performance mods :)

Hi DAMPKING---- OK, I get the picture...I'm hoping some of the others on here with 350s' can add some experience as my 2 Classics are 500cc..You are right to quote the altitude as the air becomes thinner (less oxygen content) with increase and has to be allowed-for when re-jetting etc..I'm not familiar with the TM30 carb. but the basic requirements remain the same non the less... I would be inclined to stay with the standard needle for now as there are already a lot of other variables to consider without making it worse for yourself !!....The IMPORTANT jet overall is that MAIN one and here in the UK my 500 is running a 136 with a 30 pilot ( Tea-Caddy filter and Electra exhaust), so your friend is in the right area I would think... Anyone else care to say a few words on this one ???

Thank you Alan for the information! Well, I was just going through ebay and nichecycle and figured that there are not many TM30. After a lot of digging, I found only 1. So I guess, I will go for the PWK 30 by Keihin. I heard that many of our bullet brothers used it and happy with it's results.
