Hi, have just fitted one of our hosts left to right gearlever kits with no problems. However manuals call for Veedol 00 grease and 20w 50 oil for topping up. Any problems with using just oil?. No evidence of grease when doing conversion.

Hi Gerry, I believe the sixty five box is oil only.

The grease is used on the older 4 speed type if bearings not sealed.

cheers gwilly.

Hi guys------- yes, just adding to GWILLI here if I may ??.... The '65 box is a 5-speed improvement that was introduced on the BULLET 65 and then the Electra models as well..By comparison with the 4-speed version you might go so far as to call it "modern".. However, as it uses the familiar ROLLER CAM PLATE system of engagement as found in many old Brit.bikes of the period, it's not as modern as the ROTATING DRUM and ROLLERS method found in todays bikes.....As with any lubrication query opinions will vary---- Some say an EP80 oil whilst others have used the same 20/50 found in the engine.... I ran a '65 a few years ago and used 20/50 in the engine and gearbox with ATF in the primary chaincase and forks.... thus only 2 types needed....Hope that's of some help ??
