Please inform whether the following spark plug is suitable for my bullet 500cc (1995 model) - DENSO W24ESR-U
If not please recommend a suitable one

Denso W24ESR-U is equivalent of BR8ES which is correct for 500 Bullet

Or, if you want an iridium plug; BR8EIX, but they have a built-in resistor, so check that the HT lead doesn`t also have a built-in resistor or resistor cap. As they say in the classics,`resistance is futile`.

Ah! Iridium, or non-Iridium!! That is the question!!
The relative merits of an Iridium plug compared to a standard one seem to be as frequently debated on this forum as does the contentious issue of engine oil!

I put an Iridium plug in my 350 Bullet Classic last year, and it doesn't seem to have made one iota of difference to starting or performance. I only know my wallet is a tenner lighter!

Hi Tim: The only reason for fitting an iridium plug as far as I`m concerned, is it will last at least 20000kms in my Bullet, compared to about 5000km from a standard plug; there is no difference to performance; maybe easier starting; it just saves me from changing plugs so often. At about $5 AUS standard, and $20 AUS iridium, it works out the same.

Really you only get 5000kms out of a standard spark plug? I just sold my old Reddich 350 with the same plug its had for seven years and around 20,000 kms. With unleaded fuel and a well adjusted carb I adopted the maxum of my old Glaswegian engineer next door neighbour "If it works leave it alone". Please read that in a thick Gorbals brogue.

I'm with simon on his one - 5000 miles for a plug? I don't even remember the last time I changed a spark plug! Probably sometime back in the 1970's on one of those japcrap strokers I suspect.I find a re-gap every 5-6 thousand miles is sufficient for the next several thousand miles. So long as the motor is set up correctly there's not much to go wrong with a spark plug is there? If it aint bust don't try to fix it.

All I will say regarding the Iridium or standard plug debate is that immediately after I fitted an Iridium plug to the Electra X the tickover speed was far too high and had to be adjusted down. This to me indicated that it must be working more efficiently. Then again maybe it was more of a reflection of the condition of the original standard plug.

If all spark plugs cost the same, everyone would buy an Iridium spark plug. If there was a table covered with spark plugs of all designs free for the taking, the Iridiums would be gone first. They are a superior design spark plug, pure and simple. It's fact. Look it up. The only debate is related to cost. And it usually starts with someone who is always trying to validate their "cheapskatedness" LOL!!! Hardee har har
