Hey , I dont know how normal my carbon build up is but after 1000 miles I pulled my head off for a stripped rocker stud and could not belive how filthy my combustion chamber and exhaust port was . More soot than an old coal burning fire place .
Is it the dreadful fuel that is sold in Australia at the pumps ?
I know there are strange additives in it for the lack of lead but with 9:1 comp ratio , 535 forged piston racing valves and valve springs , high lift cams and a 32 mm Amal concentric MK2 carb that is as lean as it can go with out spitting and it's been ported right out as well .
It's a kind of sticky black soot that realy does stick to the metal fast .
I know Bullets are sooty but this is crazy , does anybody else get this ?
I can stop it by running on pure Ethonal or Methonal but I will have to buy big drums of the stuff for economic reasons .
Any hepful thoughts on this subject ?

Sticky black soot sounds like oil burning. Is it smoking at all?

That is an excess of partly burned oil and nothing to do with carburation...........Needs immediate attention to find where, how and why such an excessive amount of oil is getting into the combustion chamber.......
