Nice one AlanR, but you missed reference to "Dark Matter". Back to the original subject, size of the earth wire, it is still a puzzle to me why the positive to the starter motor solenoid is about 4 times the size of the main earth wire. When I look at most car and light aircraft battery connections, the positive and negative connections look about the same cross section, which makes more sense IMHO. Cheers TrevorCH

Well my EFI did get out for its first ride of 2013 today, and first since probably November. Everything worked, approximately :) Still got some weird electrical problems with the RH switch, despite stripping and cleaning it, and still got glowing nacelle lights when I brake. Thankfully, the front brake lever hasn't shorted out the bike electrics since I replaced the rear wiring loom with a home-made one... but the headlamp switches do it instead now!! Only sometimes, and only for the first few switches on and off (yes, I repeatedly flick switches until everything stays on, then go out for my ride :)) And oddly, on first turning the ignition key this morning, absolutely nothing happened... same on second turn, but things sparked up on third turn. It was a great ride in to work though! Perhaps one day everything will work all at once, twice in a row.
