I've inherited several boxes of bits in recent times, in which is a brake caliper set up off a 2000-and-something Bullet. My issue is, will this bolt straight onto the left hand fork leg of a Sixty-5, as there are no bosses on the leg, save for the mudguard mountings. If there's an adaptor bracket, what should this look like as it may be in the box somewhere..?

Hi STEVE---------- IGNORE THAT LAST POSTING !!!! I cliked the wrong button on my mouse !!----All you need to do is remove the long lug found on the inside lower end of the L/H leg----Hacksaw & file is what I used---then it all just bolts on... Make sure the reaction plate (with pad) is free to move on its two pins as there is only the one piston operating both the pads.. I found that ARMSTRONG green pads (organic type) don't wear the disc rotor (unlike sintered ones) and give a good performance in the wet..DOT 3 fluid is sufficient...

TYPO !!!!!!!!!! that should read}---------- DOT 4 fluid is sufficient !!-------If you get the opportunity I would recommend changing the original spec. rubber hydraulic flexi. pipe for a braided stainless steel one..If this is an old kit then a complete change of sealing rubbers and a fresh fill of Hydraulic fluid is easy to do and reasonably cheap as well.... Inspect the rotor for cracks at the root of the "spokes", excessive scoring, and securing bolts are tight..... there is also a "MIN Thickness" to be aware of.... I believe EBC do an after-market rotor----don't know about our hosts though ?? Finally----------- on your first outing after fitting, do take care as this is a VAST improvement over the 2 L/S drum system...

-------- Get stuck in, then !!!!! My first ride after fitting was to N.Wales and up to the top of the Great Orme (Good cafe' up there with ample parking)--- then the long drop DOWN again alongside the Tramway... The disc handled it with ease whilst my mate on his "standard" classic 500 had several Brake Fades---which was nice !! Have a look at this >>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.thesummitcomplex.co.uk/

UPDATE !!!---------------- Have just remembered}-- the upper, central, L/H stay will have to be reduced in length to allow for the calliper------------ have a look at the photos.

Alan,
The ones I have done required very carefull filing to get the existing mudguard stay mounts on the fork leg square and paralell to the disc otherwise the caliper just locks up when it is tightened up
