Just taken Bertie for a test ride after refitting the rear end, didn't bother refitting the panniers and top box and wow, what a difference, I must have been lugging round the weight of a large child, the bike is so much more responsive, don't think I'm going to put them back on any time soon...all very pleased that the back wheel didn't fall off either

Hi Alan, The swinging arm was removed for rust treatment and a repaint, it had got in quite a state, must admit while I was out I did stop a few times and check everything was where it should be.

Hi guys------- GWILLY, yep--found it----cheers---- BERTIE, what type of panniers do you have ?? I fitted the GIVI hard luggage type which use the MONOKEY system and can be removed when not required..They interchange onto my Suzuki Marauder 800 tourer as well--- same with the top-box as well------

Hi Allan, my panniers are Highway Hawk leather boxes held on with chrome frames that bolt to the rear light unit and the top suspension mounts so cannot be removed easily, my top box has the monokey system and is easy to remove, also found that he bike is easier to clean without the panniers on.
