In the quest for a bit more grunt from the 350 I've been considering Mr H's tuned head.
Anyone got one?
Any good?

Hi guys--------- yes, it will be for sale soon, just got to sort out this annoying tappet rattle in the exhaust rocker area first .......... Photos available if you want.........Money will be used to fund the Army Despatch bike project....

A 'tuned' head on its own, imho, is unlikely to give you much of a performance gain. You would also need to look at hc piston, exhaust system and carburetter. (Deliberate spelling of carb because that's how Amal spelt it!)

I like the 350 and have spent too much time modifying and improving it to sell it now. I just want to be able to climb hills a bit better - top speed isn't an issue as I only have a 50mph brain these days.

Peter,
we have a member out here who fitted a hi comp piston to his 350 and he was impressed with the increased power but sadly a couple of weeks after fitting it he hit a kangaroo and busted his arm up badly (8 hour operation) so we never got to really check it out but initial reports were a big improvement. Problem is I had previously put a set of 500 flywheels in it so it is hard to tell exactly what the piston did but I think it would be a good first step.

Hello PETE F ------------- I wanted the same thing from my 500 Classic so fitted our hosts 8.5 : 1 forged piston which, along with a 19t sprocket and improved fuelling, has done the trick quite nicely....Cheaper than a new head as well !!

Hi NORM----just beat me there !!---------Hitchcocks don't give a "Kangaroo warning" with their HC pistons.... I've yet to meet one over here just yet...

Alan we had a bad run for a while, a week after the kangaroo incident another member cleaned up a wallabie, luckilly he only broke his big to but still very painfull having to change gears with right foot for another 150ks to get to the hospital, changing up ok, changing down was making his eyes pop

I have the tuned head on my 500 along with free flowing air filter and exhaust. These were fitted when I got the bike so difficult for me to compare. The head is gas-flowed and constructed in a way to get gasses flowing more efficiently. On it's own I doubt if it would make much difference, it needs to be part of a package. Unfortunately, what ever you do yours will still be a 350. Quite honestly, if you need greater power in a Bullet, a 500 is the way to go.
