Hi Guys------- bought a "Peddle & Pop" Honda last week---- I have a receipt and the green tear-off strip ( V5c/2 ) complete with the bar code----- tried to SORN at the local licensing Post Office, they said they can't do it, I'd have to phone the DVLA and gave me the number-----tried that, can't get through !! ---- Have just tried on-line and that doesn't cater for this situation........... So how's it done ?? ( The full size V5c has not come back from Swansea yet )

You can print a SORN notification off the DVLA site and post it in. If it has been off the road for ages, ie since 1997(I think, please check)then it does not need a SORN until it's taxed.

Thanks JOHN, will give that a go... Normally I'd buy a vehicle that's got some amount of tax on it and that situation I'm familiar with.... The bike was on SORN for the previous owner but that's not transferable..... Why the licencing Post Office couldn't use the bar code on the V5c/2 green slip I don't know?? It's good for everything else until the re-printed full V5c arrives with the new owner... The Post Office staff said that the DVLA wouldn't let them ... odd ??
