Hi guys--------- have any of you experience of fitting/using our hosts Eccentric Cam Spindles??.... I'm told they help in reducing Exhaust valve "Clatter" noises that sound as if the seat is loose etc ??

Hi Alan, they certainly work but one I set up recently with Ace cams, when you adjusted the exhaust cam up it brought the cam lobe into contact with the boss around oil seal on the timing shaft. Had to grind a fair bit off, down to the actual seal. This probably wouldn't be a problem with standard cams

Hi NORM---------- ah!, that's good to hear 'cos I've just ordered some to-day...Are there any probs. involved when removing the old spindles and I assume the normal timing rules apply when re-assembling ?? Yes, I'm on standard cams (Well, I'm assuming so---haven't removed the timing cover yet)... judging by performance they probably are.

Hi Alan, not too hard with the cases split heat them up and tap them out from the inside. When fitting the new ones make sure the cutout section is in the right position, remove the adjustable spindle sleve and with a sleve/deep socket tap the new spindle home. I have found a set that wouldn't fit into the timing cover and I had to take a couple of thou off the diameter of the end of the adjustable sleve, at least that is what I think I had to do, it was a while back

You will need a spindle puller if you remove them in situ , I pulled them cold and used a blow torch and spindles from the freezer to tap in the new ones . I went all the way and fitted our hosts cam followers and high lift cams which need a bit of grind off on the crank bearing casting boss . the engine is realy quiet in that department now and most of the noise comming off the primary chain ...saving up for the belt drive kit now !

Thanks guys-----------will be tackling that job in FEB some time----have a set of '75 GL1000 Goldwing carbs to Ultrasonic and re-build/balance... Anyone want to buy a 1976 HONDA GL1000 Gold Wing ?? Will be on the market ASAP so get in before it goes on E-Bay.... More details, photos etc on request.
