Alan - I am referring to the distributor/points unit - it was a lazy description - it reminded me of a magdyno (magneto/dymamo). I plan to get a larger main jet off Hitchcocks. I have to agree with the top speed comment - shurely these bikes are good for 80mph once properly run in and having had regular oil changes? Your suggestion re 19 tooth sprocket - I thought about that but it is a considerable job to replace the sprocket and requiring lots of special tools which I do not possess. So I think it will remain as stock. Thanks

Dennis, weak point is the piston, it isn't up to the job ok for up to 10,000ks but after that you are in the danger zone, I have a box of 2 piece pistons. Fit a better piston and you can push it to 70mph but it is usually too uncomfortable. Longstroke crank it and then you have an entirely new ball game, chalk and cheese, beautifull machine easily capable of running the freeways

Thanks for the information Norm

It looks like the first thing to do when getting one of these is to fit a good quality piston and spend some time balancing the crank, although I doubt that I am likely to buy anything so modern, besides no more room in the shed, SWMBO would object if I buy any more bikes.
